1.22:1 “A good name is better than great wealth, and favor is better than silver and gold.”
We should value our reputation and not lose our credibility for a little profit.
25:14 “He who boasts and gives a gift in vain is like a storm without rain.”
The benefits or gifts we promise to others must be fulfilled.
Otherwise, it is like a storm without rain. For people who are in drought, seeing the storm and clouds surging brings great hope in their hearts.
However, no rain came, leaving them even more disappointed.
Nowadays, many celebrities, in order to gain fame and reputation, pretend to promise to donate a lot of money, but then fail to fulfill it, causing their reputation to suffer great losses.
If you are not honest in business and lose reputation, you will lose customers and markets.
Christians must value their identity as children of God and must not be greedy for small gains and damage God's name.
2. The way of master and servant: The way of master and servant in the Bible can be applied both in the country and in the workplace.
Chapters 25-29 were copied by Hezekiah’s men.
Hezekiah was a good king, and the restoration of the country during his reign had a lot to do with his obedience to the teachings of these proverbs.
Instructions for servants: A. 22:29 "Have you seen a man who works diligently? He will stand before the king, not before the mean."
In the workplace, whether what we do can be seen by our leaders or not, we should be diligent.
Diligence makes our professional capabilities stronger.
Diligent people are always favored by leaders.
B. ?23:1-3 "If you sit at table with a ruler, be careful who is before you. If you are a glutton, put a knife to your throat. Do not covet his delicacies, for they are deceiving
food".
It warns people not to be greedy for good food and benefits given by leaders, to be careful not to fall into traps, and to beware of the hypocrisy of those who set up feasts.
C. ?Revere the leader, "My son, fear the Lord and the King, and do not associate with the capricious, for their calamity will suddenly arise. Who can know the destruction that the Lord and the King will bring?" (
24:22); “Whoever keeps the fig tree will eat its fruit; whoever serves his master will be honored” (27:18).
D.? 25:6-8 says not to be arrogant in front of the king, nor to risk losing by competing with others.
The most taboo thing for leaders is arrogant subordinates.
Even if you are very talented, you must remain humble and low-key.
When the time comes for God to exalt you, God will naturally exalt you.
E. Be loyal to your leader, and your leader will trust you and leave important things to you.
25:13 “A faithful messenger refreshes the hearts of those who send him, like the coolness of ice and snow in the harvest.”
F. When there is dissatisfaction among colleagues, do not let everyone in the unit know about it, and do not reveal personal secrets.
(25:9-10) G. Have a patient heart, “Perseverance can persuade kings, and a gentle tongue can break bones” (25:15).
Instructions for kings and leaders: A.
You must be aware of everything, don't be confused, and understand the situation comprehensively and in detail.
“It is the glory of God to keep things secret, but it is the glory of kings to make things known” 25:2.
B.
You must learn to manage your emotions and not be swayed by them.
C.
The king must promote good and punish evil, and implement justice and justice, so that the kingdom can last long (25:4-5, 29:4).
D.
Listen to the counsel of the wise (25:12). A truly wise person is one who fears God.
Ask God to raise up such people around the king.
When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; when the wicked gain power, the people sigh (29:2).
Let us not take our right to vote lightly.
The evil ones throughout history have taken power and plunged the entire world into darkness.
We should always pray for our country’s leaders.
8:15 “It is through me that kings sit on their thrones, and through me kings decide justice”; 21:1 “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the waters of a ditch, where he turns where he pleases”; 28:2 “The kings of nations have multiplied because of their sins”
replace".
The books of Kings and Chronicles confirm these proverbs.
E.
A king should love peace and calm down the anger of the people.
A scornful one stirs up a city, but a wise man calms down the anger (29:8).
F.
Kings should stay away from falsehood and lies (29:12-14) G.
The king should be good at disciplining his people, and should not let the people do whatever they want and govern the country according to the law.
H.
A king should be tolerant towards his enemies. If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink (25:21) I.
Kings should not overly listen to flattery and rob God of His glory.
It is not good to eat too much honey, and it is disgusting to care about one's own glory (26:27).
A king should control his heart and restrain his excessive desires.
A man who does not control his heart is like a ruined city without walls.
(25:28) 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people act recklessly, but he who keeps the law is blessed.”
Vision is God’s inspiration.
We should pray to God so that the gospel can be spread widely in the country, and the hearts of the people can be truly restrained by the fear of God.
J. A king should love his people and be considerate of their sentiments.
Know the condition of your flocks carefully and take care of your herds (27:23-27).
