If you tell others that you want to go to Chaoshan to eat delicious food, they will definitely be confused and ask, where to start?
Here, maybe you can find the answer!
The Chaoshan area usually includes: Chaozhou, Shantou, and Jieyang.
(Whether Shanwei belongs to it or not has its own opinion, so I won’t list it here.) If you want to experience the authentic Chaoshan flavor, where should you go first?
First, you will be confused by a bunch of place names.
Chaozhou Station, Chaoshan Station, Shantou Station, Chaoyang Station, Jieyang Station, and Chaoshan Airport.
Where can I go by high-speed rail or plane?
Then, even if you figure out the cities to which these stations belong, where should you go to eat?
Fortunately, I spent seven days and nights looking for food in these three cities, and I finally came up with a list of gourmet foods. You can choose your preferred itinerary based on this list of gourmet foods.
Anyone who has read my previous store exploration guides knows that I will not write all the food recommendations in a city. I will only write about some stores that I have experienced and think are worth visiting again.
Every time I go to a city, I first choose a bunch of restaurants, then select a few, trade my weight for food experiences, and only write down the ones I think are good. The rest of the real experiences are the essence, although my favorites are limited to individuals.
Jieyang Food Chapter I originally planned to go to Jieyang for the New Year’s Eve, and then stay for a few days to explore in depth. However, my friend was not happy and clamored to go to Shantou in advance.
I didn’t even have time to eat Baita Town beef, and my relationship with Jieyang only lasted for most of the day.
Even so, there are still a few small shops that are quite memorable.
Recommended: Xinheng Goose Meat This store has moved once, and the address checked on Baidu Map is correct.
The goose meat is different from the brine method in Chaoshan area, but it is a bit like the white-cut goose in Zhanjiang.
The goose meat is tender and white, quite refreshing and chewy. The original soup is used to soak the rice noodles and meatballs, which is quite sweet.
The goose intestines are topped with a little soy sauce and minced ginger and garlic. They taste very crunchy.
Guangde Kueh Juice When in Jieyang, you are either eating or looking for something to eat.
Guangde Kueh Chi is an old shop. The stalls at the entrance are filled with all kinds of food. You can add whatever you want.
It has local characteristics and the taste is a bit salty, but the price is not too expensive.
A small shop on Zhongshan Road. A small shop without a signboard on Zhongshan Road is very popular!
I like the pork skin better, it looks very chewy and tastes very chewy.
Roadside rice snacks, I forgot what they were called specifically.
The rice tastes full of flavor, and the mouthful of garlic oil is the soul of this snack, making the taste come alive.
The snacks in Jieyang may be scattered in the streets and alleys. On New Year's Eve, I walked near Jieyang Experimental Middle School and found that this area is super lively, and the delicious food may be hidden deep inside.
I had no choice but to leave Jieyang early and go to a more familiar place in Shantou to eat. I could only leave it until next time.
Jieyang Wandering Rongjiang West Lake Park On the way to Zhongshan Road by taxi, I suddenly found this park and asked the driver to stop and take a stroll.
The scenery in the park is quite nostalgic. Looking at the lake through the branches, you can see a bit of the beauty of the West Lake.
When wandering around the city, you don’t expect big views. The old houses with local characteristics may not be strange to the locals, but in the eyes of foreign tourists, they are just scenery.
The sea mango tree, which is more than 200 years old, is probably going to be mature. Although it shows vicissitudes of life, it is still full of vitality.
Lion Dance (Green Lion), a traditional dance in Jieyang City, Guangdong Province, is one of the national intangible cultural heritages.
Among Chaoshan folk, as long as there are various celebrations, there will be the custom of dancing the green lion to pray for various good wishes.
