When talking about Zigong, probably everyone is aware of its lantern style; when walking into Zigong, it turns out that it was born from salt, became a scenery due to lanterns, and was named after dragons. This city is worth exploring and savoring. It has hundreds of millions of years of dinosaur ruins, two thousand years of well salt culture, eight hundred years of lantern customs and Sichuan-style salt gang delicacies.
Coincidentally, I came across the Zigong International Dinosaur Light Festival. During this trip, I went to the old salt field to learn about salt culture, to Nanhu Park to watch the light show, to the Dinosaur Museum to explore, and of course, the salt gang in the food street was indispensable. Food...
As a foodie, when I go to every place to appreciate the local customs, I naturally choose to start with eating. I don’t know since when, Zigong Cold Rabbit has been completely imprinted in my heart. This time I finally had the opportunity to come to Zigong and taste the legendary Cold Rabbit and various salt dishes in person.
When we arrived in Zigong, we went straight to the Huidong Road Food Street. I couldn’t walk any further and chose a restaurant called Panji Shrimp. It was so delicious that I was moved and cried. I also tried the local traditional dipping dish. It was my biggest surprise. My feeling is that as a Chongqing native, I feel inferior to Zigong when it comes to eating spicy food.
After talking about eating, there is also salt; salt is too common for everyone, but the salt in Zigong is very extraordinary. Da'an Salt Factory was once the largest salt factory in Zigong. It ceased production in 2012, but the ruins of the modern salt-making industry are completely preserved.
It turns out that some salt is used for food, while some salt is a witness to culture and the history of a generation. Today, the Old Salt Works 1957 is already a distinctive industrial architectural museum, a space that displays unique historical deposits and cultural personality.
This trip was not long, but Zigong left an extremely deep impression on me; not only is it salty and flavorful, but it is also rich in cultural heritage and historical deposits.
