The only handicraft produced in Sanliao Village is the compass, which is a hand tool of Liao Wu Liao Haiyao's family. The manufacturer of compasses adopts a customized method, that is, according to the requirements of buyers, such as the size, number of layers and style of disc data, the price is negotiable (roughly calculated as per layer 10 yuan, for example, the disc data is 24 layers, and the price is 240 yuan). There are only one or two producers, and the production cycle of a compass is about three to five days, which is made by hand. Although the manual compass in Sanliao is rough compared with the compasses produced in other places, this handicraft and production technology can not be ignored because of its special value in Sanliao Village.

Liao Haiyao is the 39th generation descendant of Liao's three rooms in Sanliao. After his father Liao taught him how to make a compass, he was able to write data to disk in one day without looking at the data. After Liao Haiyan's death, his skills were passed on to his son Liao Kaixiang.
