I was born in the north, and since I can vaguely remember, my grandmother always prepared zongzi, tea eggs and red Chinese-style chest covering for me during the Dragon Boat Festival.
I remember when I was a child, there were no zongzi leaves in the north, maybe they were not planted in the countryside (because of the delicious food cooked in the countryside, I seldom bought materials). My grandmother used corn leaves, and I still have to look for them, because there were no corn plants on May 5, and some were early corn.
Then the glutinous rice was bought and saved by Grandma in the Spring Festival and mixed with some rice.
in retrospect, although the raw materials were not as good as now, the taste of childhood is always better than now. (I vaguely remember the same as the picture below)
In addition to zongzi, grandma will cook tea eggs for me on this day. At that time, eggs were scarce. Needless to say, tea is the scented tea we are talking about now. Put a little tea on it, then add big salt (the doll may not know what big salt looks like now), and then cook a few (cousins bring their own eggs, haha). There are many children at home, my aunt.
In addition to eating the top, my grandmother gave me a Chinese-style chest covering. When I was a child, I liked it very much. It was red and beautiful. There was a small animal on it (take a small stick prepared by my grandfather and find an iron ring yourself. Isn't this the little Nezha?). According to my grandmother, it was to ward off evil spirits, but now it's gone. After I entered junior high school, my grandmother was old and I was old, so I didn't wear Chinese-style chest covering. (Look at the picture below, everyone has a picture, which is almost the same as when I was a child, haha)
Later, after junior high school, if I catch the Dragon Boat Festival on holiday, my mother will get me a red rope. Strictly speaking, five-color silk threads need to be woven together and worn on my wrist or ankle to ward off evil spirits.
Now that I'm grown up, every Dragon Boat Festival, as long as I'm not particularly busy, I will go home and have dinner with my parents. My mother will wrap zongzi and cook tea eggs in advance and tell me something about my childhood, and the picture is also very beautiful.
Although there are many kinds of zongzi and tea eggs now, they can't always taste like children. When I wrote this, I suddenly miss the scene of grabbing tea eggs after my grandmother's ass, and I miss the scene of putting on a Chinese-style chest covering and holding a stick to install Nezha.
Now there is a little young master and a little princess. After my mother is upgraded to grandma, she basically takes care of her baby in the city. Every time when the Dragon Boat Festival is approaching, my mother will prepare materials for making zongzi and boiled tea eggs as grandma did, and the two babies will run around with her, chirping, just like my scene. This may be the inheritance of customs.
