Pingyao Ancient City is a very ancient castle surrounded by high walls. There are seventy-two alleys in it, and each alley is very similar. It is a place where you may not be able to find the exit when you walk in. We stayed in the ancient city the first night, ate local snacks, and slept on a kang with northern characteristics. We got up early in the morning and took a battery car to visit the ancient buildings in the ancient city. First, walk along the city wall and look at the entire ancient city from top to bottom. According to the tour guide, the ancient city is also called "Turtle City" and the shape of the entire city is like a crawling turtle. The south gate is the turtle head, the north gate is the turtle tail, the four east and west gates are the limbs of the turtle, and the seventy-two alleys are the pattern of the turtle shell. There is a bank called "Rishengchang Bank" on West Street in the ancient city. It is China's first private bank and the earliest banknotes were issued here. We also visited the county government office, where there was a live performance of the county magistrate solving the case at that time. The performers all wore clothes from the Qingming era, holding ancient torture instruments and using modern humorous language. It was really funny. There are many more such as prison cells, tax bureau, etc. Pingyao Ancient City looks like a small city? In fact, it contains rich ancient culture.

When I walked into Pingyao, I couldn’t help but be surprised. The ancient city with a circumference of only more than 6,000 meters carries so much rich content. The west gate of the ancient city is like the entrance of a time tunnel. From the moment we step in, we are completely immersed in the architectural, economic and cultural atmosphere of the ancient Han nationality city. It is like going back in time. Pingyao was underestimated. I thought we had already climbed the ancient city wall on the first day. We would have enough time to walk around the inner city for most of the day. We didn’t expect that in the end we would have to rush to the next attraction. The biggest regret of this trip was that the time to visit the ancient city was too short. In the end, we only visited 12 of the 20 attractions on the pass. Although the remaining places are slightly different from some of the scenic spots we have seen, we still feel regretful. Pingyao's city walls, markets, ticket offices, escort offices, pawnshops, Taoist temples, temples, county government offices...everywhere is missing. looks great. However, there are far more places worth savoring in Pingyao than those open attractions crowded with tourists. Walking in the ordinary alleys of Pingyao? Inadvertently stepping into an ordinary courtyard? It may make you sigh and give you an unexpected surprise. Pingyao, with a history of 2,700 years, is rich and restrained. Who knows how many historical fragments it has accumulated.
