The development of high-speed railway is to solve the traffic problems in Seoul and Busan Corridor, which is an important economic zone in South Korea. The development background is traffic congestion, which is accompanied by the increase of car ownership (as high as 16% because of 1980s) and distribution cost, thus weakening the global competitiveness of South Korea. After that, the government decided to build a high-speed line at 1989. Construction started at 1992, and the first part was opened in 2004. Due to the impact of the East Asian currency crisis, the Korean economy initially planned to open a brand-new Seoul-Busan line at the same time on 1997. The main feature of the first stage is electrification, the opening of a new line from Seoul to Daegu (East Daegu Station), the use of existing production lines from Daegu to Busan, and the influence of high-speed railways from train service to Yishan, Gwangju and Mokpo Station spread to the southwest of the Korean Peninsula (Jeollanam-do). This is the Mokpo part of electrification in Daejeon. After the opening of the first phase, the operating mileage of the high-speed railway has exceeded 683 kilometers, with 232 kilometers added in Seoul and Daegu, Otawa, and the existing production line and 45 1 km. In the second stage, in 20 10, a new production line was built to connect the East Daegu-Gyeongju Busan Festival, and the new track between Seoul and Busan was completed (Figure 1).
In the first phase, Tianan (96 km from Tianan 'anshan Station) and Daejeon (159.8 km) are currently in Seoul for 1 hour, allowing the development of commuting distance in reasonable houses. Travel time from Seoul to Daegu decreased by 56%, from Seoul to Busan by 36%, from Seoul to Gwangju by 365,438+0%, and from Seoul to Mokpo by 35%. The travel time from Seoul to Daegu (282km) has been shortened from 3 hours and 3 minutes before 1 hour to 20 minutes, which has become the most obvious part of the high-speed railway. Although it runs in Dongdayu, south of the existing production line, the time from Seoul to Busan has been shortened from 4 hours to 2 hours and 40 minutes for the high-speed railway opened 10 minutes ago.
