It just advocates not killing animals and following a vegetarian diet.
As for the desire for delicious food, it is called appetite. It is a manifestation of greed and must be restrained.
This is different from the four sins of killing, stealing, committing adultery, and committing four sexual sins means you are guilty.
As for the desire to eat and drink, it is just that the cultivation is not enough, and the greed is more serious.
