In principle, only when a visa applicant meets all of the following conditions can he be judged to be eligible for a visa and be granted a visa to Japan.

1. Applicants must hold a valid passport and ensure the right and qualification to return to their home country or country of residence to re-enter.

2. The application materials submitted are true and valid.

3. The applicant’s activities in Japan or the applicant’s identity, status, and period of stay must comply with the provisions of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.

4. The applicant does not fall under any of the provisions of Article 5, Paragraph 1 of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act.

Extension of re-entry permit You cannot re-enter during the validity period of the re-entry permit. However, if there are indeed sufficient reasons, the Consulate may extend the permit.

The extension period of the permit shall not exceed one year and must be within 4 years from the date of validity (5 years for special permanent residents).

However, the validity period cannot be extended after the period of stay approved before leaving Japan.
