Yanqiao Road is located in Feixi County, Hefei City, Anhui Province, with a total length of about 1.2 km and a north-south trend. The northern section of Yanqiao Road is connected with the bustling avenue, and the southern end is connected with Tangkou Road. The road area where Yanqiao Road is located is mostly named after Anqing area, and it is rarely named after people. The reason for choosing "Yanqiao" is that Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian are from Huaining, Anqing, and also to commemorate the outstanding contribution of the martyrs, which just echoes the nearby Jixian Road and the bustling avenue and is more symbolic.
Chen Yannian and Chen Qiaonian, both sons of Chen Duxiu, grew up to be excellent proletarian revolutionaries under the influence of Chen Duxiu's revolutionary thought, and risked their lives for a long time to embark on the correct road of revolutionary struggle. Their deeds are touching. 1927 On the evening of July 4th, my brother Chen Yannian was killed by the Kuomintang military police in Longhua prison. He refused to kneel before the execution and died at the age of 29. My brother Chen Qiaonian died heroically on June 6th, 1928, at the age of 26.
Flowers on Yanqiao Road
On July 1 day, 2022, Yanqiao Road was filled with flowers and message cards presented by people. At the intersection of Yanqiao Road and Changgu Road, the exhibition board introducing the deeds of martyrs was covered with flowers, and the "Yanqiao Road" road sign at the intersection was also surrounded by flowers. Old party member left a message for the flowers sent by Yanqiao Road on July 1st: "We will be your eyes and watch for you!"
Despite the scorching sun, people continue to come from all directions to present bouquets to street signs. Some of them came spontaneously after seeing the information on the Internet, some took their children to feel patriotic education, and some presented a bunch of flowers to their families. Careful people piled flowers neatly under the street signs, some of them were fixed on the poles of the street signs with tape, and the young pioneers wearing red scarves saluted seriously.
