Phuket's charm isn't just about its stunning beaches.

The word Phuket means hill in Malay.

In addition to the urban area, the island is full of tree-lined hills, dotted with coconut palms and rubber forests, and attractions abound.

1. The black stone American landscape, known as Pasing Dam in Thailand, is difficult to find, but it’s certainly worth the effort.

To get there, you have to hike into the rainforest above Osan to enjoy stunning views of southern Phuket, including Nahan Beach, Promthep Cape and Koman.

This little-known perspective was unheard of before 2016.

The Blackstone Landscape looks like a large terrace made of soil from the cliff.

It has a huge block of black granite – hence the name.

The superb scenery and the remoteness of the place - you are in the jungle after all - give you a rewarding feeling given the difficulty of the journey.

2. Karon Viewpoint (formerly Kata Viewpoint) is one of the most visited viewpoints in Phuket.

From here, you can enjoy the scenery of Katanoi, Kataai and Karon beaches.

Located between Nai Harn and Kata Noi beaches, it is busy most of the year and is a staple of many tourist routes.

The local municipal government called it Kaosamhad (Santan Mountain), and for some reason it was officially renamed Karon Viewpoint.

It's located just south of Katanova Beach, with direct views of the Andaman Sea, but most people have their cameras pointed to the north, boasting an undeniably impressive 8km of views across three west coast beaches.

3. Khao Rang Mountain is one of the most famous attractions in Phuket.

It is located northwest of the city center and its top overlooks the entire town, the southern part of the island, the adjacent islands and forms the spine of the island.

What impressed me most was the Big Buddha of Phuket.

With a beautiful garden and a kid.

Completed in 2014 with a playground, three restaurants and bars, a fitness park and a panoramic terrace - Koala Peak's viewpoint status is official.

This place is very attractive and provides visitors with a breath of fresh air.

Phuket is a relatively hilly place, with the highest point reaching 500 meters, and many mountaintops can be reached.

Jean Hill is no exception.

There are two main thoroughfares: one is Yaowarat Road coming out of Wawila Hospital, and the other is the east-west road connecting Mae Luan Road.

Along Soi Vachira, which dominates the hospital, you'll encounter Phuket's first seated Buddha, a large golden statue at Wat Khao Rang.

At the height of this approach there was a slightly overrun (but usable) sports park where students loved to gather after classes.

Soi Chimbi enters from Mae Luan in the south, passing a small Thai temple, a white pagoda on the right and a Chinese temple on the left.

If you decide to walk, both paths to the top are good exercise, but they are dark and very cool, just like the top of the mountain.

4. Ram Singh Viewpoint is a popular site on the coastal road between Kamala Beach and Surin Beach.

Providing a nice place to rest, the roof provides shade.

You can admire the beautiful scenery to the south from the beach of the same name below, a popular spot in Phuket to watch impressive sunsets.

There is a limited on-street parking space in front of Lemsinger Lookout, which fills up quickly at sunset.

If you want to see the sunset from your own perspective, you should go early to ensure you get a good, unobstructed view.

The scenery during the day is just as good and generally not liked by others.

You should allow about 10 minutes to reach the attractions of Kamala Beach.

5. Toh Sae Mountain in Phuket Town is sometimes called Monkey Mountain.

After a few hundred meters, it became quite obvious when we encountered a group of fruit-gnawing macaques brought by locals.

Probably the tallest mountain in Phuket, Monkey Mountain is home to several television and radio stations and is a popular entertainment spot for many locals to jog on daily.

In 2015 a suitable platform was built at the top of the mountain (at the bend leading to the TV station), providing an excellent view of Phuket.

Halfway up Monkey Peak is a basic sports park that was completely renovated in 2015.

Unlike other views in Phuket, the scenery when looking up is better than during peak hours.

This is because there is a TV station on the top of the mountain, and the satellite tower dominates the top of the mountain, covering up the scenery of Phuket.

There are several places to stop and peek at the trees in Phuket America's harbor, town and sea, but the platform installed in 2015 offers the best view of Monkey Mountain.

During the day you can drive a car or motorcycle to the scenic spots and peaks, but remember that the hills are steep.
