"Five Ancestors of New Shaolin" was watched again on the movie channel about two months ago, and the plot didn't fall behind at all, so I also watched the advertisements in the middle.
I've enjoyed watching this kind of solid kung fu film recently, as well as the 1984 Kapok Cassock, which was also shown on the movie channel more than a month ago.
With more words, I recently bought Jet Li's Huang Feihong 1 and 2 as my collection. 1 is a starting point and a milestone for Jet Li's re-rise. 2 is considered by me to be the most classic in the Huang Feihong series. Besides Jet Li designed by Eighth Master Yuan and two super villains, Xiong Xinxin and Zanzidan, there are several dripping fights, and the artistic atmosphere of Men Be Self-reliant is also the best.
Well, I'd like to talk more about Kapok Robe and Huang Feihong in the future. Now I'll turn the topic to Five Ancestors of New Shaolin.
This is the first time that Jet Li has played the role of a father, but it is natural to cooperate with Xie Miao. Chingmy Yau has always performed in the same way, while Chen Songyong is speaking Taiwanese Mandarin with a funny style in Way Jade. The difference is that under the lens of Wang Pangzi, Chen Songyong is a little more lascivious, but it also serves the plot. Ye Dexian's image is more common, and he belongs to a kind of mother representative. DAMIAN LAU is more disappointing, not the disappointment of performance, but the death is too fast. I always feel that a large part of DAMIAN LAU's play was deleted when it was first painted. Not much to say about Ji Chunhua, the villain BOSS, just show his cruelty and his own kung fu. After the whole scene, of course, it is a Jing Wong-style patchwork, which is full of various commercial elements, including kung fu, funny, sensational, scary, shocking and cold sci-fi elements. Among these elements, the classic commercial films that spoof western films include The Ultimate, Wax Museum, etc., and the funny part is also brilliant, which makes me feel interesting that the five ancestors discussed the door number and a "new human" popped up in their mouths! Of course, the most important thing is that Wang Pangzi's guest star "Fang Shiyu" ran in slow motion with a Shandong accent: "Da-Hong-! Son-son (sound zei)! " Quite spiteful, after exchanging names with Hong Xiguan played by Jet Li, Jet Li also asked in confusion, "Are you Fang Shiyu?" Wang Pangzi also cocky "what? Can't you? " Finally, while pulling his son away, he warned, "You should not associate with these people in the future, they are all bad people." He said that while walking, he bumped into a tree ... So he spoofed Fang Shiyu, which probably made Jet Li laugh and cry himself. Of course, the highlight of this film, the action scene, is also quite wonderful. Yuan Kui cooperates with Jet Li more. Although I think Jet Li's action will make Yuan Heping's guidance better, Yuan Kui's fighting action designed for "The Five Ancestors of New Shaolin" is quite sharp, and the handover of fists and legs or weapons is quite textured (unlike in "Fang Shiyu", when some actions are compared with Hu Huizhong, the fighting scene is too light-of course, it may also be considered for the plot. A man once said that a wonderful kung fu film requires not only the leading actor's skill, but also the villain's opponent with a kung fu background. This kind of action drama is good-looking. Most of the villains in Jet Li's movies have a good martial arts background, from Di Wei, Ren Shiguan, Zan Zidan, Xiong Xinxin and Siu-ho Chin to Chiu Man-Cheuk, Zhou Bili, Ni Xing and Yu Rongguang (and the villain in "Eternal Dragon Slayer")
The villain in The Five Ancestors of New Shaolin is Ji Chunhua from the Mainland. Jet Li and Ji Chunhua have cooperated several times, starting with Shaolin Temple. After all, it's only less than half a year since the last big showdown of Fang Shiyu's sequel "Who Will Fight Against the Front", and the audience is inevitably tired.
There is another regret in this film, that is, the modeling regret. Jet Li, who has always shaved his head and performed clean-cut kung fu movies, has developed performances in "Five Ancestors of New Shaolin", so he looks uncomfortable. As a child, he hated this clean-cut drama. Of course, this can also be regarded as a representative of Jet Li's invention ambition, indicating that he is going to stop his costume and shoot modern action movies. After Five Ancestors of New Shaolin, Jet Li took over three modern action dramas in 1994 (Jingwu Hero is a drama of the Republic of China), but the box office was average. Although all of them exceeded 11 million, they were far less than his costume dramas. In contrast, The Five Ancestors of New Shaolin was released at the time of the strong crossbow end of a new round of costume kung fu films in Hong Kong, and it was a good box office, which was much more gratifying than Burning the Red Lotus Temple, which was the ending of Hong Kong kung fu films by Lin Lingdong in the same year.
