Mile Temple is located in Shanmei Village, Yujiao Town, Jiedong District, Jieyang City. Tang Dezong, which was built in 15 (AD 799), was destroyed during Jiajing period of Ming Dynasty due to the disloyalty of monks to the Ministry of War. Until Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, Zhili Governor Zheng Dajin sincerely believed in Buddhism, so he invited Emperor Qianlong to return to his hometown to build Maitreya Temple. By the time of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese invaders invaded Chaoshan and were wiped out. In AD 1999, under the leadership of Master Shi Xincheng, President of Guangdong Buddhist Association, Master Shi Yaoli went to Shanmei Village to rebuild and revive Maitreya Temple.
