In the third year of Yongzheng's reign (1725), Tianjin Wei was promoted to Tianjin Prefecture.
In the ninth year of Yongzheng (1731), Tianjin Prefecture was promoted to Tianjin Prefecture, with jurisdiction over six counties and one prefecture.
From the official establishment of the city in the second year of Yongle (1404 AD) of the Ming Dynasty to 2014 AD, Tianjin has celebrated its 610th anniversary.
4. After Tianjin was opened as a treaty port in 1860, Western powers set up concessions in Tianjin one after another. Tianjin became the forefront of northern China's opening up and the base of modern China's "Westernization" movement.
The modernization of the military, as well as the construction of railways, telegraphs, telephones, postal services, mining, modern education, and judiciary, were the first in the country.
