I read a new book "Learn to Eat" this week. I chose this book because I happened to read the explanation of this book when I watched Fandeng Reading Club in the early stage. At that time, I felt very interesting and felt that there were many details that could not be mastered by watching the program alone, so I found this book and read it carefully.
The reason why this book can arouse my interest is that the contents in the book can solve many of my own problems: I eat too fast, always eat too much in order not to waste things, I can't help eating too much when I see delicious food, and sometimes I feel very uncomfortable because of eating too much, so this book is more attractive for me, which is very helpful to solve my own problems.
The main difference between the method introduced in this book and the traditional dieting method is that you can make friends with food and enjoy the food through mindfulness practice, instead of putting many restrictions on yourself and confronting the food. In the author's words, it is "embracing rather than confronting the food". The reason for advocating this method is that the author thinks that dieting through mindfulness can really cultivate one's own habits, while dieting through confrontation is easy to lead to failure.
To cultivate mindfulness eating habits, we need to have internal wisdom and external wisdom. Internal wisdom refers to our feelings about food and our body after eating, which mainly includes three aspects: satiety of taste buds (the stimulation of food on taste buds will continue to decrease), satiety of abdomen (the feeling of abdomen and surrounding organs caused by eating) and satiety of body (the physical comfort caused by rising blood sugar and various biochemical mechanisms). Through the cultivation of internal wisdom, External wisdom refers to the understanding of food calories and factors such as exercise and weight. Then through 33 specific exercises, the author tells us how to cultivate our mindfulness, how to establish contact with food, and finally achieve the goal of scientific eating. The whole book is step by step, and it takes several months to complete the exercises in the book, but once the habits are formed, it will certainly benefit people for life.
By reading this book, besides helping me to improve my eating habits, I personally have some gains beyond books: when we are studying, if we encounter a good book, it is better to read it in person. Just like this book, I can read and think in combination with my own actual situation during reading, so that a lot of knowledge can be directly absorbed and digested, but this effect can't be achieved just by watching programs. It's like eating. What others chew is always not as rich as what they chew. Others' interpretation only provides us with a choice, and it can't replace us to absorb nutrition.
