During the Warring States Period, when heroes were vying for hegemony, Chu State stood proudly and built its capital in Ji Nancheng, where it flourished for more than 400 years. After more than twenty generations of kings, many nobles and nobles were buried in Guodian after their deaths. As a result, Guodian Village is known as the "back garden of Chu State".
There are currently more than 100 tombs in sealed mounds in Guodian Village, and countless tombs in unsealed mounds, which can be called a valuable underground library. Guojiagang No. 1 Ancient Tomb, about 4 kilometers south of the central market town of Jishan Town, covers an area of ??more than 200 square meters. There are existing altars, steps, etc., and the rare national treasure "The First Female Corpse of the Warring States Period" and 7 first-class cultural relics in the national collection were unearthed .
In October 1993, the Chu bamboo slips unearthed by archaeologists while excavating the Chu tomb No. 1 in Guodian, Guodian Village, were "simple books" from the pre-Qin period. After expert interpretation and textual research, it was confirmed that there are 804 bamboo slips in this batch, including 730 Chinese character slips with a total of more than 13,000 Chinese characters. They have been identified as national first-class cultural relics. The Guodian Chu Slips have important academic research value and are known as "the classics that rewrite the history of Chinese thought". Among them, the Taoist literature "Laozi" uses the changes from long to short bamboo slips to show the order of formation from early to late. It is the earliest Taoist work with the most primitive writing.
"China's first ancient wet corpse" is shocking. In 1994, an ancient female corpse from the Warring States Period was unearthed from Chu Tomb No. 1 in Guojiagang, Jishan Town. The body was buried more than 2,300 years ago. When the ancient corpse was unearthed, the body was wrapped in a large amount of silk clothing. The network texture was clearly visible, and it still had a certain strength when pulled by hand. The appearance of the ancient corpse is completely preserved, making it the "first ancient wet corpse in China".
The Guotan Reservoir in the village was built in 1973. The dam is 640 meters long, with a total storage capacity of 1.44 million square meters, an effective storage capacity of 550,000 square meters, an irrigation area of ??6,700 acres, a breeding water surface of 250 acres, and a built-up area of ??1,500 acres. The profound cultural heritage and the beautiful Guotan Reservoir form a wonder where history and modernity, ancient culture and modern industry are intertwined.
