The west gate of Quchao Gorge. At the entrance to the Shaanxi end, there are cliffs on both sides of the bank, hundreds of feet high and less than a hundred meters wide, shaped like a portal, hence the name. The water from the upper reaches of the Yangtze River is collected through this gate and flows into the gorge; the water in the gorge is deep and fast, with the narrowest point of the river being less than 50 meters. The waves are roaring and roaring, which is heart-stopping. It is known as the "Kuimen World Hero". Because Qutang Gorge is the gateway to eastern Sichuan, it is also called Kuimen.
