In "The Miracle of Mindfulness", Thich Nhat Hanh said: The purpose of practice is to eat when you are hungry and to sleep when you are sleepy. Eat when you are hungry and sleep when you are sleepy.
When I heard it, I felt that I ate when I was hungry and slept when I was sleepy. There was no difference. But if you think about it carefully, it’s wrong. I often eat when I’m full, and I stay up and look at my phone when I’m sleepy at night.
This is greed, greed is causing trouble.
For example, many times when I am eating, I am clearly full, but I still continue to eat. Why? Because I don’t want to have leftovers at home;
Because I don’t want to disappoint my parents, so I use food to please them, to prove that their cooking is delicious, and to prove my love for them;
Because It's really delicious, especially when eating out, especially at buffets. You have to get back all the money you spend, and don't let the merchants make money. So I eat a lot.
Sometimes because it’s sweet, fragrant, or really delicious, I eat it in big mouthfuls, and I feel full in a short while, with a lot of things stuffed in my stomach. In the end, I even eat everything. have no idea. I remember wolfing down dumplings when I was a kid. After eating, my parents asked what the fillings were. I didn’t know. I didn’t know what the fillings were, so they knew I was very hungry and the dumplings were delicious.
Alas, even though I ate it and put it in my stomach, I missed so much deliciousness and excitement. Life could have been rich and colorful, with all kinds of colors, flavors and tastes, but my life turned into a black-and-white photo, missing a lot of fun.
This is greed, too much greed, too greedy for food.
This also makes me feel uncomfortable in my stomach sometimes. Here I remind myself, slow down a little, slow down a little more, and taste the delicious food in the world. Maybe it is bitter, maybe it is sweet, maybe It is spicy, maybe it is astringent, this is colorful life, this is what life is like.
At the same time, I would like to thank my stomach for reminding me, and thank my stomach for caring about me. I have received your love. I will eat mindfully in the future and stop eating when I am full.
When you come to this world, what can you take with you when you leave? Except for my rich feelings and wonderful experiences, and this body, nothing belongs to me.
Moreover, others cannot take away what belongs to you. Even if it is temporarily taken away, it will eventually return to you. If it doesn't belong to you, even if you get it through clever tricks, you will eventually lose it in various ways. This is also the reason why virtue must be coordinated.
How much wealth you can inherit depends on your ability.
Walk from one end to the other, let the road be covered with flowers, let the road be filled with happiness, appreciate the majestic mountains, rivers, lakes and seas, and feel the gentleness and kindness of the earth.
Thanks to Thich Nhat Hanh for his righteous thoughts, and to Teacher Fan Deng for his interpretation. What we really need to cultivate is our own character and morality, which is what Teacher Fan Deng said: hone in on things.
I feel that I have a deeper understanding of eating and weight loss, which is worthy of joy and celebration.
