Impressions of Haiwozi Ancient Town in Pengzhou, Chengdu

Haiwozi, also known as Xinxing Town, is located in the mountainous area in the northern part of Pengzhou, Chengdu City, more than 70 kilometers away from Chengdu.

It is easy for people to drive straight from the town road to Longmen Mountain and Bailu Academy in Pengzhou, while ignoring this ancient town on the roadside.

The ancient town of Haiwozi was one of the founding centers of the ancient Shu Kingdom. The King of Shu, Bai Shi, once established his capital in "Qushang", which is today's "Haiwozi".

The ancient town was established in the 55th year of Qianlong (AD 1790), so it has a long history.

According to "Huayang Guozhi": "Yufu, the king of Shu, built his capital on Zhaishang because of the Jian Mountain. The emperor symbolizes the dragon, and the king's place is where the dragon lives. The dragon lurks in the sea, so later generations called this place Haiwozi."

Another theory is that in ancient times, there was a cave on the side of the mountain with spring water flowing out of it. According to current research, there was indeed a cave, which was said to be the "eye of the sea". The mountain rock here was divided into upper and lower parts.

Due to the constant flow of water in the cave all year round, one has to cross a ditch from the entrance to the end. The so-called "two miles" (referring to Tiyunli and Lupingli) in one step, so it is called "Haiwozi" (for reference only).

Legend: In the land of Pengzhou, there once lived a mother and son. The son Xiaolong made a living by cutting grass. Whenever he went home after cutting a piece of grass, and came to the place where he cut the grass again, the grass would instantly grow again.

It grew very luxuriantly. There was a year of drought. The Bodhisattva of the Earth gave Xiaolong a dream, saying that the most lush grass blocked the eyes of the East China Sea.

Because his mouth was dry, he put his head into the water and drank hard. Suddenly he had an unbearable headache. He grew horns on his head and scales on his body. He turned into a dragon, rolled in the water, and flowed down the river into the East China Sea.

The place where the grass was pulled is still flowing. In order to commemorate Xiaolong, people call it Haiwozi (for reference only). The ancient town went through construction, damage and reconstruction in the 55th year of Qianlong.

1790 AD); during the May 12 Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008, the ancient town was severely damaged. After three years of reconstruction, the ancient town was restored to its original appearance, and the 1.5-kilometer-long Qingshiban Street in the ancient town was reopened in May 2011.

The longest street. The ancient town takes this winding street as its main line, with winding paths, staggered up and down, and a small river winding along the street. There are many stone arch bridges spanning the river. The houses in the ancient town are made of wood.

There are mostly structures, supplemented by bricks and tiles; there are mostly simple wooden buildings with blue brick walls on both sides of the street, and many have balconies; there are simple paved facades, and eaves-style and open doorways; the courtyards are deep, and the lanes are winding.

Different styles; multi-element buildings and facilities such as the grand stage, Sichuan Opera Exhibition Hall, painting academy, lantern scenery, engraved couplets, etc., not only contain the style of western Sichuan folk houses, the imprint of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also bring together a strong cultural and historical charm. There are many plants in the town.

The foliage is lush, and residents like to plant flowers and grass, and green leaves and red flowers are common along the streets; environmental sanitation is valued here, the courtyards are clean and bright, and the streets are neat and refreshing; the harmonious coexistence between old-fashioned buildings and modern power and gas supply facilities is managed through painting decoration. ?

The commercial atmosphere of the town is not strong, and residents living leisurely lives are common on the streets. Food and snacks are the highlights of the town. Tea, chess and cards, and chatting are still indispensable elements of the town. The town attaches great importance to the inheritance of Sichuan Opera art and culture.

Reconstruction and cultural theme innovation have revitalized Sichuan Opera and built it into a Sichuan Opera cultural museum town, adding to the cultural connotation of the town. The "Xiwozi", the grand stage, and the Sichuan Opera Exhibition Hall have become highlights here.

. Although the houses in the town were rebuilt after the disaster, due to their architectural style, construction technology, possible use of original building materials, and high degree of restoration, many houses show their mottled appearance, and the traces of history and time can be seen in them.

It is the original product from that time.

(The above is based on the introduction of various small town information and the summary after personal viewing)? Before the National Day holiday this year, we visited here and were attracted by the small town's simplicity, tranquility, simplicity, peace and simple humanistic style.

Although this is not a popular attraction, in my personal opinion, it is worth a visit.

Below, we will mainly share pictures and categories to share with you our impressions of Haiwozi Ancient Town.
