Some communes in the district re-established Hanyang District; so far, Hanyin County has "five districts and one town" under Hanyang, Pingliang, Puxi, Tiefo, Whirlpool and Chengguan towns.
At that time, the Hanyang District Office had jurisdiction over the five township people's governments of Liming, Weixi, Hanyang, Tianchi and Shuangping, and was based in Hanyang Ping Town.
When the district was withdrawn and established as a town in 1996, the original Hanyang, Liming, and Tianchi townships were merged into Hanyang Town. The original Shuangping and Weixi townships were still townships, but now they are changed to towns.
In 2003, the original Weixi Township was merged into Hanyang Town, both under the jurisdiction of Hanyin County, Ankang City. Hanyang Town is still located in Hanyangpingji Town, 71 kilometers away from the county seat.
