Kyoto University is the second national university established in Japan after Tokyo University. In 1892, 23 members of Congress proposed in a motion to the National Assembly that there was only one Tokyo National University in Japan, which was not competitive, which was not good for running schools and cultivating students. It was suggested to build a university in Xijing-Kyoto at that time. In 1897, the motion was passed and the university was born. At that time, it was named Kyoto Imperial University.
when the university was first established, there was only one branch university of science and engineering. * * * had 21 lectures in 6 majors with less than 5 students, and Hiroji Muxia was the first president. A few years later, three branches of universities, such as law, medicine and liberal arts, were added. At this time, there were five branches of universities in the whole school. Four years later, a new university order was issued, and the branch university was renamed the department.
The original law and economics of the Law Department were separated, and at the same time, it was upgraded to the Faculty. After several years' efforts, the Agriculture Department and some research institutions have been established one after another, and the school scale has been greatly developed, and the number of students has doubled. After the merger of Kyoto No.3 High School, the Humanities Department was established on this basis, and later developed into today's education department.
after the war, according to the new education law, the new system was implemented, and the imperial university was cut off. Empire? The second word is to eliminate the damage and influence of militarism on Kyoto University, including implementing coeducation, cleaning up the teaching staff, abolishing some inappropriate lectures, adding education departments, pharmacy departments and some research institutes, and the postgraduate education has been greatly developed and opened to the outside world. In this way, Kyoto University has become a national comprehensive university with complete disciplines and large scale, second only to Tokyo University in Japan.
