Hainan is a province of People's Republic of China (PRC), located at the southernmost tip of China. It consists of several islands, the largest of which is also called Hainan Island. When "Hainan" is mentioned in Chinese, it usually refers to Hainan Island. In order to emphasize that it refers to a province, some people say Hainan Province.

Hainan Island is called Zhuya, Yuya and Qiongzhou, and the latter two become the abbreviation of "Qiong" in Hainan Province.
During the period of the Three Kingdoms and the State of Wu, Hainan was a bamboo and green area. Hainan is one of the last areas controlled by Chiang Kai-shek Kuomintang in China. March to May 1950. The landing on Hainan Island occupied the island for the Chinese community.
