History of the Taiwan Museum and the Ministry of Railways Park In 1884, Taiwan Governor Liu Mingchuan hired foreign consultants to build a machine bureau at the Tamsui River pier to assemble guns and ammunition and mint currency.

In 1895, the Japanese military took over the Machinery Bureau and renamed it the Taipei Ordnance Repair Factory. It manufactured and repaired weapons managed by the Army. It could manufacture projectiles, tubes, small pellets and ammunition, ships, railways and iron bridges, etc. It was renamed the Taiwan Artillery Factory.

In 1900, it was transferred from the Ministry of War to the Ministry of Railways, and in the same year it was renamed Taipei Works.

In 1908, the Western Taiwan Railway was opened. In response to the surge in railway traffic and vehicle maintenance needs, a new vehicle repair workshop and painting workshop were built at the Taipei factory in 1909.

In 1918, a new Ministry of Railways office building was built, forming the South Office Building and the North Factory.

In 1934, the Taipei factory was moved to Songshan (the current site is the Taipei Machinery Factory). The old buildings in the street were renovated and demolished, and they were reopened to the public in 2020, allowing Taipei citizens to once again witness its dazzling splendor.

Architectural Features of the Ministry of Railways at the Taiwan Museum The most important building and the largest one is the "Ministry of Railways Building". It has a brick and wood structure on the outside, and its bright red color makes it particularly eye-catching on the busy streets.

The front of the hall uses two symmetrical towers as the entrance, and an arc shape is designed according to the corner of the intersection, giving it a beautiful arc.

There are three classical columns supporting each side, and the single-sloped roof is equipped with a large dormer window. The gorgeous European style remains extremely beautiful after the passage of time, adding a touch of romance to the hinterland of Taipei Station.

There are many attractions near Taipei Main Station, or you can easily take a day trip to Dadaocheng and Ximending.

Mitsui Warehouse, North Gate Plaza, Postal Museum North Gate Branch, Futai Street Western-style Building, Zhongshan Hall, Tuyin Exhibition Hall, Taipei 228 Memorial Hall.

After visiting many Japanese-style buildings in Taipei, the one I am most looking forward to is the official opening of the Ministry of Railways Park, because it has a beautiful appearance and is located in an important transportation location, close to Mitsui Warehouse, North Gate Plaza, Postal Museum North Gate Branch, and Fu

Taijie Western-style buildings form a group of historical monuments in Taipei.

In addition to adding greenery and European style to the hinterland around Taipei Station, it also allows you to walk through the past and present of Taipei City in an open space. It is not an exaggeration to call it an open museum.

With the Ministry of Railways Park as the center, looking at Taipei 101 to the east, Dadaocheng to the north, and Ximending to the south, no matter which direction you go, it is an in-depth tour that combines history and food.

Railway fans and families with children, hurry up and follow me into this magical and beautiful romantic memory.

Take the MRT to Beimen Station, go to the ground level from Exit 2, and turn around to see the Ministry of Railways Park. However, its entrance has to be turned left from Tacheng Street to Yanping North Road to reach the main entrance.

Along the way, you can admire the appearance of the Ministry of Railways, with its elegant arched walls made of red bricks and greenery, and the dim yellow lights inside, which seem to bring people back to memories of the past.

The high school I attended was also a red building left over from the Japanese colonial period, so I felt an indescribable familiarity with the scenery in front of me.

Soon, the North Gate and the Taipei Post Office appeared in front of us. The two time-honored monuments faced each other from a distance, and together with the Ministry of Railways, they constructed the historical image of Taipei City.

Look, the Ministry of Railways is really beautiful and makes people want to visit it.
