Looking for strategies
In August last year, my boyfriend and I went to Xiamen and Gulangyu Island on a self-guided tour. The two of us spent about 3,500 yuan. We also started from Guangzhou.
If you want to go with a group, you may be teased a little more by the tour guide.
There is a sleeper berth at Guangzhou Tianhe Passenger Terminal to Xiamen. The ferry from Xiamen Island to Gulangyu Island is available at 12 o'clock. It is free, but it costs 1 yuan per person to go to the second floor.
It only takes 5 minutes to reach Gulangyu Ferry Terminal.
The return boat is 8 yuan per person. It leaves every 10 minutes during the day. It is 4 yuan at night from 21 to 24 o'clock and free from 22 to 24 o'clock.
The main tourist attractions in Gulangyu: Sunlight Rock, Shuzhuang Garden, Haoyue Garden, Yuyuan, Organ Museum, Zheng Chenggong Memorial Hall, Underwater World and Natural Beach, Sea Paradise Structure, etc.
The housing prices there are similar to those in Guangzhou. You can live there for more than 200 yuan. The recommended place to stay is Xiamen Hotel.
The Organ Museum and Oriental Fishbone Art Museum on Gulangyu Island are very unique, or strolling on the beach behind Aberdeen in the evening is also very romantic.
I bought a hand-drawn map of Gulangyu Island so that I can know more clearly the location of the food and accommodation hotels on Gulangyu Island. The price was 12 yuan. I also bought a copy at that time.
There are no cars on Gulangyu Island, only battery cars for sightseeing. In fact, you can just walk. Places that look far away on the map are actually quite close when you walk. Maybe it’s because you are used to seeing Chinese maps and the scale can’t be changed at once, haha!
Gulangyu Island - The boat ticket is 8 yuan, and the island ticket is 108 yuan.
There is currently no charge to go to the island. If you consider that you don’t have enough physical strength and time, it is recommended not to buy a combined ticket. There are many places to visit on the island. If you just want to go to Sunlight Rock, you can buy a separate ticket.
Sunlight Rock is the leading attraction on Gulangyu Island. A single ticket costs 60 yuan, including Sunlight Rock and Qinyuan.
Climbing up, there are temples, Longtou mountain village ruins, and the Bronze Bake Statue.
A huge boulder with a diameter of more than 40 meters stands at the top of Sunlight Rock and has become a symbol of Xiamen.
Qinyuan is connected to Sunlight Rock via a cable car and includes "Aviary Garden", "Cinema", "Heroes Garden", etc.
Come out of Qinyuan and walk straight until you reach a fork in the road. There is a sign indicating where you want to go.
I visited Shuzhuang Garden, which should be the most suitable route.
We also passed by the beach, and the road was full of scenery.
Shuzhuang Garden costs 30 yuan per ticket, and there are many attractions.
The entrance fee to Haoyue Garden is 15 yuan. There is a giant statue of Zheng Chenggong in the park.
It can be regarded as the symbol of Gulangyu Island. When we came by boat, we could see it from a distance.
The organ museum costs 20 yuan per ticket. There are many organs inside. The one in the hall can be described as huge.
Because the red roof is unique and has the shape of Bagua, it is called Bagua Tower. The original owner Lin Heshou was the cousin of Lin Erjia, the original owner of Shuzhuang Garden.
It is also one of the symbols of Gulangyu Island.
If you have time, you can go to the Underwater World, which is right next to the ferry terminal and the Organ Museum is on your way.
But I don’t think it’s necessary, and the tickets are expensive, reportedly 70 yuan.
Walk straight out of the ferry terminal to Longtou Road, the most prosperous place on Gulangyu Island, where you can eat snacks and take a walk.
I first saw Zhang Sanfeng Milk Tea, which was recommended online, but there were many people queuing up, so I skipped it.
Going forward, there is Babycat. It is said that the pies here are very delicious. I ordered a box of mung bean fillings, and the price increased by 20 yuan for 8 pieces. A cup of coconut milk tea also cost 20 yuan.
The mung bean cake is pretty good.
Next up is Lin Kee Mutan Fish Balls. I ordered fried oysters and shark balls for 15+8. It’s a little more expensive than the stalls, but it’s good.
Went for other snacks on the second day.
The focus of the first day was eating snacks, so I just walked around casually.
There is also Marasan orange juice, which costs 5 yuan for a small cup. Many of them are not authentic, so be sure to look carefully.
Huang Shengji's pork jerky is also good, but I didn't buy it. I tried it twice, hehe.
Free tasting of dried meat and floss.
Putuo Temple, Xiamen University, and Huandao Road are three must-visit attractions in Xiamen. There is Yefengzhai Beach on Huandao Road. If you can swim, prepare a swimsuit. I went there in August, and there were so many people playing at that time.
water.
Putuo Temple is now open to the public for free, so you save 3 yuan.
The fish balls on Longtou Road in Gulangyu Island - Ye's Mochi at No. 62 Longtou Road - near the front of Xinhua Bookstore, at the three intersections of Longtou Road, is just a mobile stall. The middle-aged male stall owner is the third generation of the family.
Sweet is 1 yuan, white is 2 yuan.
