Introduction to the Ancient Grand Garden The Ancient Grand Garden was built in the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (A.D.1522-1566). It was originally named "Grand Garden" and was taken from the sentence "Green Bamboo Grand Garden" in the Book of Songs. In the 11th year of Qingganlong (Park 1746), it was renamed "Guyi Garden". The architectural style of the ancient garden is the same as that of Suzhou gardens and pavilions between small bridges and flowing water, which is simple and elegant.
There are two gates in Guyi Garden, the south gate is Nanxiang Wall (zhaobi), the north gate is Yiye Hall, and the south gate is in and out of the north gate, or the north gate is in and out of the south gate, without going back. Yiye Hall is the main hall in the garden, with nanmu as the pillar and roads connected on all sides. Standing in the hall, you can see the surrounding scenery.
