External morphology of gastrodia elata
Perianth is tubular, light brown, slanting pot-shaped, with an oblique mouth, five cracks at the top, slightly enlarged at the lower side of the flower base, with free lips and nectaries at the base of the lips. Stamens and pistils combine to form Gynostemma pentaphyllum. There are 1 crested stamens at the top of gynoecium. There are 2 anther cells, and the pollen is light yellow, which is not easy to separate. The pistil stigma is located below the pistil column, spoon-shaped, reddish and shiny. The ovary is inferior, 5 ~ 6 mm long, 3 mm in diameter, with red meat, smooth surface and 6 reddish-brown edges. Ovary obovate, stalk twisted. When flowering, the ovary twists outward 180 degrees, which makes the perianth nozzle off-axis, which is beneficial to insect pollination.
