Generally, it is planted in temperate regions in the south, and also in three northeastern provinces. When planting walnut trees in the north, it should be noted that lime water should be applied to the trunk every winter to prevent frostbite.
Southern Jiangshi Lion's Head belongs to wenwan Lion's Head Walnut, which is a branch of many varieties of Lion's Head. It was called Madun in the late Qing Dynasty and changed to Ma Ke in the Republic of China. Because of its scarce output and poor recognition of wenwan, it was not a mainstream high-grade variety in early years.
