Nandina domestica, also known as Tianzhu, is an evergreen shrub of Petuniaceae. Its tall and straight stems, sparse branches and leaves, numerous red fruits, coral-like, evergreen in winter and summer, and natural and unrestrained posture. It can be planted in the yard, beside the rockery, or used as a bonsai or potted plant. It is a good product for viewing leaves and fruits, and it is also a traditional flower arrangement material.
Tianzhu is native to forests, ditches and valleys along the Yangtze River in China. Like warm and humid, growth temperature 20℃, cold-resistant, like well-drained soil, strong shade tolerance, like semi-shade, poor growth under strong light, incorrect leaf color, difficult to bear fruit, too dark light, weak growth, thin branches and thin leaves, few flowers and few fruits.
