Carving method:
First, the three-dimensional sculpture:
1, round carving: that is, three-dimensional carving. Most of them are carved on five sides, with patterns on the bottom, mainly stationery and ornaments, with bamboo roots as the main material.
2. Through carving: the blank outside the screen is hollowed out. Or between layers, the three-dimensional sense is strong, mainly incense sticks and pen containers. Most of them are tetrahedral carvings. Bamboo tube is the main material.
3. High relief: Relief with quite three-dimensional effect without hollowing out. Mainly carved on three sides, it is often used for pen holders, and the material is mainly bamboo tubes.
4. Relief: Relief with a certain three-dimensional sense, mainly carved on the front, mainly used for pen holders.
5. Deep carving: also known as deep concave, it is the deepest kind of concave carving and has a considerable three-dimensional effect. When relief and through carving are combined, it is actually a kind of intaglio carving, such as female die in a metal mold. This kind of carving is rare and is mainly used for pen containers. Mainly carving vegetables, lotus flowers and so on.
Second, the plane sculpture:
1, bas-relief: it is mainly plane sculpture with a slight three-dimensional level, also called thin relief, just like the thin sculpture in Indian sculpture.
2. Green carving: also known as leather carving, it is a convex carving method in leather carving. The pictures and texts are left on the bamboo skin (green), and the rest are shoveled off as the bottom (ground). If the pictures and texts are layered by shallow carving, there will be a different ink and wash effect, which will be the best for green carving. Commonly used in pen containers, handrails and fan bones. Its characteristic is to express calligraphy and painting with pen and ink.
3. Profound: The score is so deep that you can clearly see the indentation of the score without the help of highlights. Suitable for carving calligraphy works and sketch painting, with the charm of inscriptions, mostly used in handrails, fan bones, pen holders and flip springs. It is a common method of bamboo crafts.
4, shallow carving: the score is very shallow, and it is often necessary to see the knife marks under strong light, which is the shallowest one. Mostly used for handrails and fan bones, mainly to express the interest of painting.
5. Leather carving: the concave carving on Liu Qing bamboo slips, which is rare. The combination of shallow engraving and deep engraving is suitable for engraving and painting, and the painting and calligraphy are expressive.
6. Flip spring: Also known as sticky spring, it is the name of a bamboo product. It can be embossed, shallowly carved and deeply engraved on the bamboo spring. Bamboo springs are mostly made into utensils, which are often general commodities, with a large number and few good structures. With depth as the main carving method, notches are often embedded with colors such as azurite and turquoise.
7. Fine carving: also known as wool carving, mainly line carving, mostly one-knife carving, with burrs on the notch.
