In 1900 the founder of Michelin Tire published a guide for travelers to choose restaurants on the go, the Michelin Guide. The contents are itinerary planning, attraction recommendations, and road guides for traveling. The Michelin Red Book (also known as the Michelin Red Guide) rates restaurants annually with a star rating.
On November 16, 2020, the Michelin Guide 2021 Beijing was officially released. Among them, there are two Michelin three-star restaurants, two Michelin two-star restaurants and 26 Michelin one-star restaurants. Also unveiled were 51 "Michelin Plate" restaurants and 17 Bebiden restaurants.
Judging Criteria
Restaurants included in the Michelin Guide are given at least one knife and fork mark, which is the guide's basic criterion for judging a restaurant, ranging from a maximum of five to one, and is primarily an indication of the comfort level of the restaurant.
Michelin stars are judged by a select group of "gastronomic spies" called "ombudsmen". They are called "ombudsmen", and each time they visit a restaurant or hotel, they need to sneak into the lodgings and taste the food without revealing their identities. They are asked to rate the food (60%), the dining environment (20%), the service (10%) and the wine pairing (10%).
