It belongs to the grouper family, with a laterally compressed, greenish-yellow or olive-brown body with many irregular dark brown or black spots, a bulging dorsum, a large mouth, a protruding lower jaw, a single dorsal fin, and tiny, rounded scales, which are ferocious in nature, and feed on fish and shrimp in the water
