Streamsides, roadsides, or thickets on mountain slopes, 500-1300 m. Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan, Sichuan, Yunnan, Zhejiang. Distributed in Sichuan and Yunnan, China. It is cultivated throughout the country. The roots of Mucuna pruriens can be used as a traditional Chinese medicine with a bitter flavor, and can be used in combination with Citrus aurantium, neem, and yanhuisuo to regulate qi, clear the liver, strengthen the spleen, and eliminate stagnation.
