Extending hundreds of meters east from the entrance of the South Asia Style Garden on Dianchi Road, it is the only way to enter the restaurant in the city center. It passes through more than 500 meters of narrow streets with rental houses. Along the way, reporters' cars are constantly being passed by. The flow of people was forced to stop and give way. There are no obvious signs or advertisements on the road. Indeed, it is not easy to find him at once. The village where the restaurant is hidden is called Yangjiadi Village. It’s hard to imagine that world-famous French cuisine lives here. Naturally, why the Snail Manor lives in the village has become the topic of greatest concern to reporters.

Enter the manor, it can be seen that the restaurant kitchen and dining room were randomly rebuilt from the original office buildings. Only the introduction about snails on the wall shows the extraordinary dishes. It is said that the average French person eats 12 snails per year. In 1999, the figure was 40,000 tons, and the price of each snail was 45 euros. At present, in Kunming, only some high-star hotels or individual Western restaurants serve snails, and they are expensive. In Taiyi Snail Manor, nearly 300 snail dishes can be served, including authentic special French snails, with a wide variety of Chinese and foreign recipes. However, the current appearance of the manor does not seem to "match" the reputation of Dicai. The owner Luo Bo, who has extensive research on snail breeding technology, also said frankly: "It only cost 100,000 yuan to open this snail restaurant."

Can Kunming people accept snail dinner

For Luo Bo, snail breeding technology is now mature, and breeding and supply are no longer a problem. After thousands of experiments, Luo Bo, with the help of a Peking University professor, successfully developed and patented the cleaning process, technology and products for killing, detoxifying and removing the most troublesome snails. Some restaurants, hotels, and supermarkets have already made supply requests. Why doesn't "Taiyi Snail" open its restaurants to cities and to busy places to show its face?

Luo Bo regards living in Yangjiadi Village as laying a foundation and exploring the market. Luo Bo doubts whether Kunming people can accept the snail dinner. The formation of a market is restricted by cultural background, economic foundation, consumption concepts, humanistic qualities and other factors. In Kunming, snail consumption is still far from these factors.

Luo Bo believes that “it is difficult to grow snails in Kunming. To grow bigger, we can only base ourselves on Kunming, continuously improve breeding and other related technologies, and then continue to expand breeding capabilities. At present, our advantage and what we can do is technology. support and supply assurance.” As for becoming bigger and stronger, Luo Bo's vision seems to be higher and further. She said, "If you don't do it, then do it. If you want to do it, just do chain operation. The first chain store will be opened in Beijing, and then it will gradually spread. We are already in Shanghai." A larger breeding base than that in Kunming has been opened. Originally, a chain store in Beijing was also planning to open this year, but now it depends on the situation.” She believes that in the end, "the snail itself is the brand, the snail dinner is a flag, and snails do not require intensive advertising investment to put them on the table."

Luo Bo, who majored in international trade, also hopes to export Kunming’s snails abroad and climb them onto French dining tables.
