According to the Qing Dynasty Archives and Historical Materials, "On the tenth day of the first month of the forty-eighth year of the Qing dynasty (1783), the Qianlong emperor held 530 tables of palace hot pots, and by the time the Jiaqing emperor ascended to the throne in 1796, 1,550 pots had been used to cater feasts."

From related archives, the Qianlong emperor once ate hot pot 60 times in 30 days, and Qing emperors ate only two meals a day, meaning hot pot at every meal. At that time, people believed that hot pot had a nourishing effect, and the people were also keen on hot pot, pushed by the emperor.

The Qing Dynasty Li Tiaoyuan in the "Rain Village Poetry" recorded: "Warm pot, commonly known as hot pot, so the most convenient food, cold days home must be used. Yu over sixty years old, bitter cold, every food must be." Li Tiao Yuan is Mianyang, Sichuan, seems to have become a fan of hot pot.
