It was a project jointly organized by Yalin Research Institute and Yalin Center. During this period, the model between the Yalin Center and the Chinese Academy of Forestry was to breed this carefully selected oil tea varieties in the subtropics. In the late 1970s, the State organized a large-scale selection and breeding of basically all the varieties registered by the Ministry of Forestry at that time. From 1980 to 1984, Yalin Center collected 293 oil tea varieties in the country, distributed in a dozen provinces. After planting in 1990. We started to screen these 293 varieties and it took 5 years to screen 18 varieties. During these years, we have been slowly screening these varieties using the tail elimination method. We reported 9 state varieties. With national certification, the Longwoods line will have the top five best varieties by 2016.
