Guan Zhong's Translation of "Huan Gong Chops Lonely Bamboo"
Translation:

During the Spring and Autumn Period, Guan Zhong and Peng Ji followed Qi Huangong to the lonely bamboo country, and went back in spring and winter, and got lost on their way home. Guan Zhong said: "You can make the old horse play a role." So I let some old horses go ahead, followed by the team, and finally found the way. Walking in the mountains, the team can't find water to drink.

Peng Ji said, "Ants live in the south of the mountain in winter and in the north of the mountain in summer. As long as they dig down the nest, they will find water. " Sure enough, I found water. A man of ability and wisdom like Guan Zhong knows how to learn from an old horse and an old ant, but now many people don't know that they have little knowledge, but they don't want to learn from smart people. Is it all wet?

Original text:

Guan Zhong and Peng Ji cut solitary bamboo from Huan Gong, and spring came back to winter, and they lost their way. Guan Zhong said, "You can use the wisdom of an old horse." Just let the old horse go and follow it, so it's like this. There is no water in the mountains. My friend said, "Ants live in the sun of the mountains in winter and in the shade of the mountains in summer. The ant soil is one inch, but there is water."

It is digging for water. To be a sage of Guan Zhong, it is not difficult to learn from old horses and ants, but to learn from friends. Nowadays, it is too much for people to learn the wisdom of saints with their stupid hearts!

During the Eastern Zhou Dynasty and other countries, Qian 'an was a branch of the Shanrong order. One year, Shan Rong ordered the branch countries to send troops to attack the neighboring Yan State. Yan couldn't help it, so she had to ask for help. So Qi Huangong led an army to crusade against Shanrong. When the army moved to Fulongshan (now Longshan) in Zhaocun, Shan Rong ordered the branch countries to cut off Suishui (Luanhe River), resulting in more than 20 miles of water in Fulongshan.

The army of Qi had no water to drink, so Qi Huangong had to send soldiers to dig mountains for water, but no spring water was found. Sun Jipeng, a counselor in Qi Huangong, advised Qi Huangong: "I heard that ants want to find a place with water to build a hole to live in, so they dig water in the ant hole." According to the idea of Gongsun Jipeng, Qi Huangong asked the soldiers to look for an ant nest in the north of Fulongshan, but found no water.

Sun Jipeng said: "Ants live on sunny slopes in winter and on shady slopes in summer. It's winter now, and ants must live on the sunny slope of the mountain and can't dig everywhere. " According to what he said, the sergeant really found the ant nest halfway up the mountain on the sunny slope of Fulongshan and dug the spring water.

Qi Huangong praised: "Peng Ji is a saint!" Therefore, the spring is called the holy spring, and Fulongshan has also been changed to Longquan Mountain, hereinafter referred to as Longshan. Think of the source for drinking water and let the spring water last forever. Later generations built a stone for the well and named it Longquan well. So far, the ancient well still exists, and the spring water is as clear as ever.
