April 5th is the traditional Tomb-Sweeping Day in China, which started in the Zhou Dynasty and has a history of more than 2,500 years. Qingming is a very important solar term. As soon as Qingming arrives, the temperature rises, which is a good season for spring ploughing and planting. Therefore, there are agricultural proverbs such as "before and after Qingming, plant melons and beans" and "planting trees is not as good as Qingming". But there is another custom in Tomb-Sweeping Day. On Qingming Day, fireworks don't move, only cold food is eaten.
According to the old Qingming custom, when sweeping graves, people should bring food, wine, fruit, paper money and other items to the cemetery, offer food to the graves of their loved ones, then burn the paper money, cultivate new soil for the graves, break a few tender new branches and put them on the branches, then kowtow and worship, and finally go home after eating the food.
This year in Tomb-Sweeping Day, my classmates and I came to Anyang Martyrs Cemetery, located at No.3 Lingyuan Road, Anyang City. This place was built in memory of the martyrs who died in Anyang. The remains and ashes of 193 martyrs are buried in it, among which 170 martyrs died in the liberation of Anyang.
In the Martyrs Cemetery, we presented a flower basket to the Monument to the People's Heroes and recited an ode to the revolutionary martyrs. Little white flowers made by ourselves were inserted in the martyrs cemetery, and the heroic deeds of the martyrs were introduced.
Remembering our ancestors is a pity and even more exciting. I watched the pines and cypresses stand tall, symbolizing the immortal revolutionary spirit of the martyrs. Today's happy and beautiful life was created for us by revolutionary martyrs, and it was also bought with red blood. Therefore, I secretly encouraged me to inherit the legacy of the martyrs, study hard, and strive to become the pillar of building the country.
When I left the cemetery, I silently said, "Martyrs, rest in peace. The motherland and people will always miss you. "
Through this grave-sweeping, I learned many stories of martyrs, and also learned to cherish this hard-won golden childhood.
