Franchisees must meet the following requirements: a college degree or higher; recognition of KFC's corporate culture; entrepreneurial spirit; relevant experience; no criminal, bankruptcy records; no conflict of interest with other brands operated by Yum (e.g., Pizza Hut, Taco Bell) and so on. After approval of qualifications, franchisees will also undergo 13 weeks of restaurant management training. Joining KFC will be a long-term relationship, with the initial term of the franchise agreement being at least 10 years. At the same time, franchising KFC requires strong financial resources. Currently, the franchise fee for KFC ranges from $2 million to over $8 million, depending on the location of the store, profitability, and other factors. This capital includes the cost of restaurant renovation, equipment, profit and employee transfers, etc., but does not include the purchase of real estate. Franchisees can arrange their own financing methods, such as bank loans and finding partners. However, the franchisee cannot invest less than 70% of its own funds in the program. KFC will start working with the franchisee only after the organization, financial status and project plan of the franchisee applying for the franchise are fully approved. The application procedure for joining KFC is: download the application form and send it to Yum Group by E-mail or fax; two interviews; three-day restaurant internship; a third interview; confirmation of franchise eligibility and selection of the restaurant, signing a letter of intent; a 13-week restaurant training; take over the store and formalize the operation. The entire application, review, and training time process takes approximately six months. Click to learn more about the franchise program
