Some people think that good teachers don't use punishment. Makarenko has different views on this. Combined with his own work experience, he thinks that this statement of "no punishment" is purely the opinion of an intellectual and an educator. Such logic will make teachers at a loss. In his view, punishment itself is a means of education, but he does not advocate deprivation of food and corporal punishment as punishment. Therefore, in his education, we can often see him take various specific punishment methods, such as confinement, criticism, prohibition of vacation, changing jobs and so on. Moreover, these methods are all adopted by students collectively, but he is often soft-hearted when punishing them, which causes students' dissatisfaction.
