Is it useful to drink Huoxiang Zhengqi water for heatstroke?
The function of Huoxiang Zhengqi Water recorded in the National Pharmacopoeia does not "relieve summer heat"
Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China is the legal technical standard for the supervision and management of drug quality. In the current Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China (20 10 edition), the function of Huoxiang Zhengqi Water is "relieving exterior dampness, regulating qi and harmonizing the middle." There is no explanation of the efficacy of the words "relieving summer heat" and "removing summer heat".
The category of action is "over-the-counter drugs for summer dampness and cold." From this point of view, Huoxiang Zhengqi water does not seem to be a Chinese patent medicine for relieving summer heat. So, where did this medicine come from to prevent heatstroke? Really has nothing to do with relieving summer heat?
The understanding of "summer heat" between Chinese and western medicine is not exactly the same, and readers are easily confused.
Heatstroke in western medicine refers to the symptoms of body temperature regulation disorder, water and electrolyte metabolism disorder and nervous system function damage under the long-term action of high temperature and thermal radiation. A disease characterized by insufficient body heat, extremely high body temperature, rapid pulse, dry and hot skin, soft muscles, collapse and coma due to the cessation of sweating. The condition is relatively urgent, and patients generally receive the most emergency treatment. Therefore, it is not appropriate for Huoxiang Zhengqi drugs, which belong to warm type, to treat heatstroke referred to by western medicine.
Traditional Chinese medicine divides the so-called heatstroke into three categories: yang heat, wet heat and yin heat. Yin and summer heat are caused by cold in summer days, which is similar to the situation that heatstroke symptoms occur when people often go in and out of air-conditioned rooms. Yang and summer heat are basically the same as heatstroke referred to by western medicine. Wet summer heat is similar to heatstroke in hot and humid weather, with symptoms such as headache, dizziness, chest and diaphragm fullness, abdominal distension and pain, vomiting and diarrhea.
Summer heat and dampness easily encroach on the spleen and stomach, affecting the digestive function of the spleen and stomach. People often feel headache, chest tightness, sour body, poor appetite, and even vomiting and diarrhea. At this time, you can choose Huoxiang Zhengqi series of heatstroke prevention (anti-dampness and summer heat) drugs.
What is suitable for drinking Huoxiang Zhengqi water?
After eating cold food or blowing air conditioner in summer, you have symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and dizziness. You can drink Huoxiang Zhengqi water. However, there is one symptom that you should never drink. If you work outdoors in high temperature and have heatstroke symptoms such as dizziness, thirst, sweating and fever, you should never drink Huoxiang Zhengqi water. Otherwise, it will delay your illness and endanger your life. When you have symptoms of heatstroke, you can take half a cup of vinegar and a cup of warm water, and drink them all. The symptoms can be alleviated. If the condition is serious, it is recommended to send them to the hospital as soon as possible.
Can Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid Prevent Heatstroke?
Huoxiang Zhengqi Liquid cannot prevent heatstroke.
Huoxiang Zhengqi Water contains 40% to 50% alcohol. I saw in the news that a driver was found drunk after taking Huoxiang Zhengqi Water. Both WHO and the famous Mayo Clinic in the United States require that people should not drink alcohol and caffeine after heatstroke. Because alcohol has dehydration effect, it will aggravate human dehydration and strengthen discomfort. Therefore, it is really not recommended to give your baby Huoxiang Zhengqi water for heatstroke.
