Pistachio nuts are ancient tree species in arid and subtropical regions. According to candidates, they existed in the Tertiary period 40 million years ago and were subtropical dry.
The varieties planted in China were introduced from Central Asia in the Tang Dynasty and have been cultivated for over 300 years. They belong to Central Asia, and they are drought-resistant, heat-resistant and light-loving. The growth period requires an average temperature of 24-26 degrees Celsius, which can withstand the high temperature of 40 degrees Celsius in summer and the short-term cold of -30 degrees Celsius in winter.
Although pistachio has a long history in China, it is mostly planted sporadically, mainly in Kashi Hotan and Aksu areas south of Tianshan Mountain in Xinjiang, with more in Shufu County and Shule County.
