2. Chinese horseshoe crab (scientific name: Tachypleustridentatus): body length up to 60 centimeters, weight 3-5 kg. Horseshoe crab consists of three parts: the cephalothorax is slightly horseshoe-shaped (hence the name horseshoe crab), the abdomen is hexagonal with spines on both sides, the tail is a long tail sword. Horseshoe crabs resemble crabs, larger than crabs, although they all have jointed appendages, but horseshoe crabs and crabs are much less closely related than and spiders. Horseshoe crabs and spiders have chela-like first pairs of appendages. Both have four pairs of legs and are taxonomically known as chelonians. In addition to the appearance of horseshoe crabs and spiders with tail sword is the main difference. Horseshoe crab appendage base has many spiny protrusions and surrounded by the mouth to chew food, so also known as limb mouth animals.
