Less common, Megalobrama giganteus was introduced into China from Uzbekistan by Heilongjiang Fisheries Research Institute as early as 2003. In 2008, artificial breeding was realized in Jiangsu, and later, with the passage of time, there were related farms in the three northeastern provinces, Hebei, Shandong, Southeast China, Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces and inland Sichuan and Guangxi.
