Ask for some English names of spirits
1)Gin (English: Gin, Dutch: Jenever, also translated as Gin) is a Western distilled spirit made from a neutral base of spirits made from fermented and distilled grains, flavored with a variety of herbs and spices, mainly juniper berries.

Because the original name of gin comes from juniper berries, one of its main flavoring ingredients, it is often referred to as gin, except that there is a rare type of gin called Sloe Gin, which is flavored with juniper berries, and it would be misleading to refer to all gins as gin. It would be a bit misleading to call all gins by the translation of gin, so it would be better to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings by calling gins by their direct phonetic translations.

2)Since ancient times, Europeans have used juniper berries as a seasoning for meat, as a diuretic, or as a source of bitterness in the fermentation process of beer. The juniper berry often appears in literature, but Chinese translators did not know the name of the plant, so they named it "juniper" because of its resemblance to a small pine tree, and called its fruit "juniper berries". The spirit flavored with juniper berries is translated as "gin," and is a very popular base spirit in Europe. Since the French name for juniper is "Genévrier", gin is often shortened to "Gen", and after its introduction to China, it was translated into gin (Hong Kong and mainland China) or gin (Taiwan) by the liquor industry, so that there are currently two types of names: in literature and dictionaries, it is often called "Gin", and in the dictionary, it is often called "Gin". In literature and dictionaries it is often referred to as "gin", while in bar and bartending literature it is referred to as "gin" or "gin".

Calvados

This is an apple-based brandy, a specialty of Normandy, France. This does not mean that all apple brandy produced here can be called Calvados, because, like Cognac, there are various production areas and production methods according to the strict regulations of the A.O.C. law, and outside of the regulations, it can only be called apple cider. This is a cold place, not suitable for the cultivation of wine, but the cultivation of apples has begun since the sixteenth century, and as for making brandy from apples, it was at the end of the sixteenth century in the era of Henri IV.

Pisco

Grapes are fermented and distilled to create a distilled spirit produced by BELLU and CHILLY. It is very light in color and has an alcohol content of about 40%. It is mainly used as an aperitif." The name "PISCO" seems to come from the name of the original South American people.

Sherry

Sherry is produced in Amdalusia, southwestern Spain, where the soil and climate create a unique style of Sherry. It is made by drying the grapes first, then squeezing the juice when the water decreases and the sugar increases, and fermenting with a little gypsum in order to increase the acidity, then fermenting in casks for a second time, and finally adding brandy to increase the alcohol concentration. Sherry is usually divided into two main categories: Fino, which is unsweetened and makes a good aperitif before a meal. The other is Oloroso, which is sweet and is usually served as an after-dinner drink. The color of sherry ranges from clear to deep yellow and brown. The sweetness of sherry is affected by the timing of adding brandy during fermentation, the earlier it is added the sweeter it is, the later it is added the less sweet it is, and the alcohol concentration is affected by the amount of brandy added. Sherry has a special storage method called the Solera system, which involves stacking wooden casks one on top of the other in the shape of a pyramid, with the oldest sherry at the bottom, the second oldest on the second layer, and the younger the wine, the higher the wine will be placed on the top, and the wine will flow downwards in the upper casks in order after being taken out of the lowest casks, so that sherry is stored in the Solera system. Therefore, sherry is stored in the Solera system, where the young wine is mixed with the old, so that the wine that comes out of the casks will always be of a certain quality.

The Martini

The Martini is a very famous cocktail. Among all cocktails, the Martini has the most variations, up to more than 200, so people call it "the masterpiece of cocktails" and "the king of cocktails". The Martini is made with 3/2OZ of gin and 1/2OZ of astringent vermouth, garnished with an olive or a slice of lemon peel, and has a sharp, deep flavor. Martini can be reduced to 1/4OZ (Dry Martini), 1/8OZ (Very Dry Martini), 1/16OZ (Extra Dry Martini) or even a little bit according to personal preference, and there is also the so-called "Martini In and Out", which means that the gin is added only after the vermouth has circled around in the martini glass and then poured out. The gin is then added. The base gin can also be changed to vodka, called "Vodka Martini", or to sweet vermouth, called "Sweet Martini", or to half vermouth and half sweet vermouth at the same time, called "Perfect Martini". In addition to the above mentioned base wines, some people add other wines, such as 1 drop of Orange Bitter. There is also a special way of making a Chinese Martini, where the gin is replaced by sorghum. As you can see, there are a lot of different ways to make a martini.

Vermouth

The main ingredients of absinthe are wine, herbs, sugar and alcohol. It is made from dozens of bitter herbs such as absinthe flowers, quinine bark, fenugreek, gentian, cinnamon, cinchona bark ...... and so on, which are macerated for several months and then mixed with white wine (note: red wine and wine are also available) (sometimes distilled spirits are added to increase the alcohol concentration). Vermouth can be consumed neat, but it is also used to make cocktails. Vermouth is generally divided into two types, one is Sweet Vermouth or Rosso Vermouth, also known as Italian Vermouth, sugar accounts for about 10% to 15% of the total, so it is called, it is dark red in color, the taste is sweet and bitter with a slight sweetness, this Sweet Vermouth needs to be aged for two years before it matures, Sweet Vermouth is the cocktail "Manhattam", the sweetest Vermouth in the world. Sweet vermouth is the main ingredient in the Manhattam cocktail. The other is Dry Vermouth, also known as French Vermouth, whose sugar content accounts for less than 4% of the total, so it is called Dry Vermouth (some people also refer to it as unsweetened Vermouth), which is white or light green in color, with a bitter and sweet taste, and which must be aged for four years before maturing, and which is the main ingredient in the cocktail Martini. There is also a type of Vermouth that falls between sweet and astringent Vermouth, called Brisco Vermouth. Vermouth is usually drunk before a meal to stimulate the appetite and to combat fatigue.

Tequila

Tequila, which translates as "tequila," is a combination of ancient Indian and Spanish cultures, and is distilled from the juice of a plant called agave plant, produced in the Mexican village of Tequila. Agave is divided into two categories, in which they have a very special way, that is, after the agave harvest, everyone gives him spit, because there is yeast in the saliva, there is starch in the plant, there will be a reaction into alcohol + carbon dioxide, but this kind of alcohol will only keep their own to drink, will not be exported because of the very bad smell. The spirit is distilled to over 50% alcohol (White Tequila) before it is bottled and sold, but it still has a fishy smell and is clear in color. The distilled tequila is then stored in oak barrels for a year, where the color and aroma of the oak seeps into the spirit, creating Gold Tequila, which is a light amber color. Tequila has a very special way of drinking it. First, place a pinch of salt on the back of your hand and roll the salt into your mouth with your tongue, then drink a small glass of tequila, then take a small slice of lemon and chew the flesh into your mouth, or sometimes tequila is also drunk with ice cubes and lemons. Both the flavor and the way it's consumed make tequila very special and outstanding.
