Hermit crabs are mostly found in the coastal and southern waters of the Yellow Sea, and are easily found in the rock crevices of beaches and coasts. Sometimes, this omnivorous animal called "scavenger" can also be seen in bamboo joints, coconut shells, corals, sponges and other places.

Hermit crabs, mainly produced in the Yellow Sea and South China Sea, generally live in the crevices of rocks on beaches and seashores. Hermit crabs use snail shells as carriers, usually crawl with negative shells, and when they are frightened, they will immediately shrink into the snail shells. As crabs grow up, hermit crabs will look for new shells to replace them. There are dozens of known species of hermit crabs, and the common ones in China's coastal areas are square-wrist hermit crab and comb-claw hermit crab. Hermit crab with square wrist is slightly larger than that with comb claw, and the maximum diameter of snail can reach more than 15 cm.

The area with the highest density of hermit crabs is often in the upper intertidal zone of coral reefs. Many hermit crabs with bare palms, hard shells and slender claws can often be found when turning over the stones in the water. They move quickly and will run and hide quickly. Most hermit crabs gather at the edge of tidal pools or under rocks in the pools.
