Toast
Americans are very casual when it comes to breakfast at home, usually sandwiches, toast, bagels, eggs, coffee or milk, juice, and cereal. Bagels sound good, but they are hard and flavorless in the mouth. Cereal is usually washed down with milk, which is America's favorite way to eat it. Bread is spread with jam or butter and salt, milk is served straight up cold, and eggs are served in hot water or cooked on an electric stove. A heartier breakfast usually includes sliced corn, ham, pancakes and fried eggs, and waffles.

Waffles
Waffles are not generally seen in China, and are somewhat like Chinese trifle. Pancakes are similar to Chinese pancakes in that they are made with a batter of eggs and sugar that is poured into a frying pan and then fried until golden brown. Corn chips are usually served softened in milk. For Americans, a breakfast that requires the use of a skillet is considered a very sophisticated one.

If you're going out to eat, you can see that the streets are full of fast-food restaurants, from the well-known KFC, McDonald's, Starbucks, and SUBWAY, to a lot of local fast-food joints. The traditional American breakfast in restaurants usually consists of bread, cakes and eggs, meat and potatoes. The bread is usually sliced toast, which is even more beautiful if there are wafers or pancakes. Meat is usually sausage or bacon. The potatoes are made into shredded and diced potatoes fried in butter. Eggs can be made in many ways, such as scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, egg-crusted vegetables or salmon.

Although Americans eat simply in the morning, they take breakfast seriously. Many families in the US tend to get up early even if they don't work on weekends, and even in snowy weather, they line up for breakfast at the breakfast room, which is quite like "a day's work in the morning".
