Cough is a common symptom in lung diseases, and its pathogenic cause is mainly external pathogens. In addition, endogenous phlegm and turbid qi and deficiency of both qi and yin can also cause cough. There are often differences between exogenous cough and internal injury in TCM clinic. Exogenous cough includes wind-cold cough and wind-heat cough. Cough due to internal injury can be divided into phlegm-heat type, phlegm-dampness type, qi-deficiency type and yin-deficiency type. Cough in children is difficult to treat, but if it is combined with proper medicated diet, it can promote the early recovery of cough.
Second, the general cough diet prescription
(1) Exogenous cough
1 Symptoms of wind-cold cough: Wind-cold cough is mostly caused by the invasion of wind-cold evil, the stagnation of lung qi in the body and the failure of lung defense. The main manifestations are cough, thin and white phlegm, itchy throat, often accompanied by nasal congestion, runny nose, frequent sneezing, aversion to cold, headache, sore limbs, thin and white tongue coating, and tight pulse. Dietotherapy method:
(1) Stemona ginger juice: Stemona10g, 6g of ginger (mashed), add appropriate amount of water and decoct for 20-30min, remove the residue to get juice, add a little honey, and let the children take it warm for several times.
(2) Ginger and apricot soup: almonds10g (after soaking and washing, the outer skin and inner tip are removed and mashed), 6 grams of ginger (peeled and mashed with 4 grams of salt) and 5 grams of licorice (finely ground and slightly fried), mix well together, and make soup with boiling water, and you can drink it.
2, wind-heat cough symptoms: cough is uncomfortable or the cough sound is heavy and turbid, and the spit is thick and yellow, with a small amount of bloodshot, which is not easy to cough up, thirst, sore throat, and turbid nose; Or accompanied by fever, headache, fear of wind, slight sweating; The tongue is red with a thin yellow coating. Dietotherapy method:
(1) Sangju almond tea: 9g of mulberry leaves, 9g of chrysanthemum and 6g of almonds (mashed into mud), which are decocted in water together, and the juice is taken, and honey15g is added, so that it can be taken warm.

(2) Cough due to internal injuries
1, phlegm-heat cough symptoms: cough sputum is multicolored and yellow, and the sputum is thick and difficult to cough up. Some children even have shortness of breath and have a squeaky throat; Or accompanied by fever, thirst, restlessness, short urine volume, yellow urine color, dry stool; The tongue is red in color and yellow in coating. Dietotherapy method:
(1) Boiled pork lungs with coix seed: 30g of coix seed (smashed into powder), pork lungs 1 piece (washed, white in color), put in a pot, and add appropriate amount of water. Boil it with high fire first, then cook it with low fire, and you can eat it.
(2) Winter melon soup: wax gourd kernel, wax gourd peel and Ophiopogon japonicus each15g, and decocted with appropriate amount of water.

2, phlegm cough symptoms: cough phlegm, white and thin sputum, snoring between the throat, chest tightness, bad appetite, drowsiness; The tongue is reddish in color and white in coating. Dietotherapy method:
(1) fragrant radish: choose fresh and tender radish, clean it, cut it into dices, marinate it with salt overnight (50 grams of salt per kilogram of radish), and dry it in the sun; Mix a proper amount of ginger, orange peel, pepper and fennel with radish, then boil the vinegar and pour it into the mix, or add a little sugar to taste. The fragrant radish is delicious and can also be eaten as a dish.
(2) Orange black tea: orange red 1 tablet, 4 ~ 5g of green tea, put them together in a cup and brew them with boiling water, so that children can drink them frequently.
3, qi deficiency cough symptoms: cough repeatedly, especially in the early morning, white and thin. Children are pale, easy to sweat for no reason, afraid of cold, short of breath when breathing, too lazy to talk, speak softly, and eat without taste; The tongue is reddish, and there are teeth marks beside it. Dietotherapy method:
(1) Huangqi Cordyceps Chicken Soup: Chicken100g, washed, degreased and cut into pieces. Blanch the chicken pieces in boiling water, put them in a stew pot together with Astragalus membranaceus10g, Cordyceps sinensis 5g and Pericarpium Citri Tangerinae 3g, add a proper amount of boiling water into the stew pot, simmer for 3h, and serve after seasoning.
(2) Bean paste porridge: 500 grams of soybean milk, together with 50 grams of cleaned japonica rice, are put into a casserole, first boiled with strong fire, and then boiled with slow fire into porridge (porridge is boiled until the surface is covered with porridge oil). Add appropriate amount of sugar to taste, and then take it warm.
4, symptoms of cough due to yin deficiency: dry cough without phlegm, or phlegm is less and sticky, not easy to cough up, thirsty, dry throat, itchy throat, hoarse voice. In the afternoon, I feel hot flashes in my body or hot hands and feet, night sweats; The tongue is red, with little coating or a map-like flower peeling. Dietotherapy method:
(1) tremella pear paste: tremella10g (soaked and washed) and pear100 ~150g (pitted and sliced), put them together in a pot, add appropriate amount of water and cook them together, and add rock sugar/kloc when tremella is soft and rotten and soup is thick.
(2) tremella and lily adenophora decoction: tremella 1 0g (soaked in clear water for several hours until it swells, then washed), lily15g, glehnia littoralis10g, and appropriate amount of rock sugar, put them together in a casserole, add appropriate amount of clear water, boil with strong fire and then cook with slow fire for about1hour.
(3) Bird's Nest and American ginseng soup: bird's nest10g (soaked in clear water to remove feather impurities), 5g of American ginseng (washed and sliced), and a little crystal sugar, all of which are put into a stewing pot, then added with appropriate amount of boiling water, covered with the stewing pot, stewed with slow fire for 3 hours, and served after seasoning.

1, almond porridge
Grind peeled sweet almond10g into a paste, add it to 50g of cleaned japonica rice, add a proper amount of water to boil, and then cook it with slow fire. This recipe originated from Zi Sheng Lu, and it can be taken warm twice a day to make breakfast and dinner. It is suitable for cough caused by tuberculosis, emphysema and bronchitis.
6, honey lotus root powder drink

Fourth, autumn dryness and cough
According to China medicine, autumn corresponds to lung, and dryness is the main qi of autumn. The evil of autumn dryness easily invades the lungs through the mouth, nose, respiratory tract or fur, which affects the lung's moist function. The symptoms of dry cough are often manifested as persistent dry cough, no phlegm or less phlegm, bloodshot sputum, dry mouth and sore throat, itchy throat and hoarseness. And dry cough peculiar to autumn occurs. Prevention and treatment should choose nourishing yin and moistening dryness, nourishing lung and relieving cough. The following dietotherapy prescriptions have good curative effects on cough caused by dry cough, acute and chronic bronchitis and cold.
