Chinese cabbage is planted and harvested in autumn for about 60 days, but in summer with high temperature, it only takes about 20 days from sowing to harvesting. It is a fast-growing green leafy vegetable.
When planting, you should choose a field where cruciferous plants have not been planted in the previous crop. If it is a continuous crop, you need to use fungi to sterilize the soil. Ploughing and leveling the land, applying 2000 kilograms of decomposed farmyard manure per mu, selecting varieties with high temperature resistance and strong disease resistance, and directly sowing dry seeds without accelerating germination. Three days after sowing, the seedlings should be sown together, and one week after sowing, topdressing should be carried out, and urea 10 kg should be applied per mu and splashed on the ridge surface with water. Sowing at the end of May can be harvested in mid-June, and the growth period is about 20 days.
Chinese cabbage has serious pests in summer. When planting, it can be covered with insect nets to isolate the invasion of foreign insect sources. If there is no insect net facilities, the pests can be controlled with high efficiency and low toxicity biological agents.
2. Shanghai Green
Shanghai green, also called small green vegetable, is a kind of green leafy vegetable which is widely loved by consumers. Shanghai green has a short growth cycle. It takes more than two months to harvest when planted in spring and autumn, but it can be harvested in about 25 days in summer.
Shanghai green has a wide adaptability, except for low-lying land and saline-alkali land. When planting, the land is deeply turned, and 2000 kilograms of decomposed farmyard manure is applied per mu to form a ridge with a width of 1.5 meters. Select high-temperature resistant varieties, directly dry seed and sow, topdressing nitrogen fertilizer once after full seedling 10 day, and sprinkling urea 15 kg per mu with clean water. It is suitable for sowing in early June and harvesting at the end of June. Like Chinese cabbage, planting Shanghai green in summer needs to be covered with insect nets in order to prevent pests.
3. Lettuce
Lettuce is a cold-tolerant vegetable with a long growth cycle. The growing period is about 120 days in winter, and it can be harvested in about 30 days if planted in summer. Lettuce planting in summer can't directly sow dry seeds, so it needs to be germinated in advance. Choose high-temperature resistant varieties, soak them for one day, wrap them in gauze and put them in the environment of 10℃ to accelerate germination, which can be put in the freezer to accelerate germination. Don't sow until all the seeds are white.
Lettuce has a great demand for water, so it should be watered every 2 to 3 days after full seedling, and topdressing should be done in about 0/0 day after full seedling, and urea 10 kg per mu should be sprinkled with clean water. If you sow at the end of May, you can harvest at the end of June. Lettuce has fewer pests, so it doesn't need to be covered with insect nets, and it basically doesn't need to control pests.
4. Chickpea
Chickpea is also called radish, which is the tender seedling of radish. It is named because the leaves of radish seedlings are particularly like chicken feathers. The overseas Chinese cabbage is not harvested from underground radish, but only young seedlings, and the growth period is very short, from sowing to harvesting only about 15 days.
Because young leaves are harvested, varieties with large leaves and high temperature resistance are selected for planting. Choose a plot with loose and fertile soil, and directly sow dry seeds without applying base fertilizer or accelerating germination. Three days after sowing, the seedlings should be planted together, five days later, topdressing should be applied, and urea 15 kg per mu should be sprinkled with clear water. Sow in late May and early June, and harvest in mid-June.
5. Small rape
Small rapeseed is a Chinese cabbage variety, and its appearance is similar to that of Shanghai Green. The growth cycle of small rapeseed is short, which is generally about 60 days in spring and autumn, and it can be harvested in 30 days in summer.
The planting of water rape is similar to that of Shanghai Green, so the plots with convenient irrigation and drainage are selected, and after deep ploughing and fine harrowing, they are made into ridges with a width of 1.5 meters, and foot manure is applied, and 2000 kilograms of decomposed farmyard manure is applied per mu. Choose high-temperature resistant varieties and sow dry seeds directly without accelerating germination. Top dressing should be applied about 0/0 day after full seedling, and urea/0/5 kg 10/5 kg per mu should be sprinkled with clean water. Small rapeseed is suitable for planting at the end of May and harvesting at the end of June.
