Mizo rice is the fruit of wild rice.

The caryopsis of Zizania aquatica is called mizutaki rice, which is eaten as a meal and has nutritional and health values. The whole grass is an excellent fodder and an overwintering place for fish. It is also a pioneer plant for fixing embankments and creating land. Ancient Mizuki normal growth, fruit in the fall, called carving Hu rice, one of the six grains.

The caryopsis is dark green or light brown, about 10mm long, the seeds are inconsistent in maturity, easy to fall off, not easy to collect, and the seeds are recalcitrant.

The fruit of Mizushima consists of a glume (grain husk) and a caryopsis. The grain husk of Mizushima consists of the outer and inner glumes that are hooked to each other and wrap around the caryopsis. The husk is light brown, light gray, and longitudinally veined with several shallow veins. The glumes and caryopsis are more loosely bound than in rice. After the dehulling of the glumes, it is the Mizutaki rice.
