Originally a physicist, in an experiment using mechanical tentacles, the pipeline broke, which led to the leakage of radiation, thus causing a big explosion. This makes Otto's brain form a new nervous system, so he can manipulate four mechanical tentacles at will with his own mind.

Otto Gunther Octavius was born in Schenectady, New York, with a poor family background. His father was a factory worker, a little violent, drunk and often beat his wife and son for no reason.

Although Otto is still young, he vowed never to be like his father in the future. This made Otto study hard, not only to become a successful person, but also to save his mother.

Otto later majored in physical science and became an outstanding nuclear physicist. His major was atomic physics, because he was always the best student, which made Otto extremely disdainful of the so-called "assistant" and thought that he could handle everything.
